New Wizard101 Bundles & Test Updates

image

Last night was absolutely crazy! Test Realm came out of nowhere and I tried to cover all the new updates on the blog and on Twitter, but it turns out more things were yet to come.

Two new bundles are making their way to the Spiral!

The Olympian Bundle

image

Remember that post about a possible new world? It turns out that gear is actually from this brand new Bundle, which is based around a Roman theme.

Now we all know Bundles come out before major world releases, so I wouldn’t dismiss the possibility of Asgard or another world being around the corner, although this new bundle suggests that we might get to quest through Aquila in Wizard101 at some point.

The Olympian Bundle Gift Card is currently only available at GameStop stores in the United States and includes:

  • Aquilan Palace;
  • Fortune-Telling Oracle;
  • Two-person Chariot Mount;
  • Trojan Horse pet;
  • Gladiator Armor, Sword and Shield;
  • 1-Month Subscription or 5000 Crowns.

The Atlantean Bundle

The second bundle that’s in store for us is based on the lost underwater world of Atlantis! Yet again, this could be a potential world at some point. This bundle doesn’t come with a house, but you get a magnificent 2-person whale mount and a cool new pet!

The Atlantean Bundle Gift Card is currently only available at GameStop stores in the United States and includes:

  • Two-player Whale Mount;
  • Betta Fish pet;
  • Atlantean Armor;
  • Harpoon;
  • Magic Fish Tank;
  • 1-Month Subscription or 5000 Crowns.

To know more about these two bundles and for more pictures, check out Swordroll’s post!

Tourney Rewards

PvP Tournaments are expensive, but you can get decks, gear, pets, mounts and even rare reagents like Amber as rewards! The best part is that you don’t have to be Number 1 to get the best rewards, as they seem to be completely random. In fact, a Wizard received the permanent Battle Gorilla mount below and he ranked 7th in the tourney!

Asgard: Possible New World?

As you all know, new content to the Wizard101 game is currently being tested. This upcoming update brought many new features and pets to the Spiral! See them for yourself here.

Now what caught my eye isn’t really the pets, but rather the new gear! Interestingly enough, this new gear isn’t available to the public yet. However, a KingsIsle worker has been spotted in Test Realm wearing two different sets of this brand new gear and a unveilled a new staffs as well!

If you saw the movie Thor, you’ll find the gear below quite familiar (the one on the right). Remember Heimdall, Gatekeeper of Asgard? They do look similar, right? Why would KingsIsle showcase a gear that isn’t available to its players, though? Personally, I believe it may be a hint at the long anticipated new world!

Asgard is a world in the Nordic Mythology, which is what inspired the world of Grizzleheim. Many players believe that the Coven will return and continue their plans to bring the Everwinter to the entire Spiral!

Could this be yet another expansion to Grizzleheim, like Wintertusk? Leave a comment below and let me know.

In Game Ideas #2: New Schools of Magic

image

The two most ancient forms of Magic were created billions of years ago, before the Spiral even existed, by the titans Chronos and Pseudeus. Fearing that Morganthe would get her hands on these long lost magical powers, these two titans travel to the Spiral, in hopes to find a Wizard strong enough to stop her. For that, they teach us the secrets of these two ancient magical arts.

Chronomancy

This form of Magic deals with the manipulation of time and altering the natural course of events. Those wielding power in this school are known as chronomancers.

Some spells:

image

  • Delay - All damage dealt to the caster of this spell is delayed for 3 rounds. Example: If the opposing team uses Judgement and Storm Owl on the caster, the damage you would get is postponed to 3 rounds after you use the spell.
  • ? - Will add later.
  • Time Pressure - Damage over time spells will last 2 additional rounds. It is an enchantment spell and can stack on previously enchanted spells. Example: If you enchant your Snow Angel with Colossal, you can still use Time Pressure and your spell will deal damage during 5 turns.

Psychomancy

It is the use of Magic concerned with the mind, allowing its practitioners to boost their own mental power and that of others. Psychomancers are able to withstand fatal attacks for a short period of time and encourage their teammates to keep fighting, despite the odds.

Some spells:

image

  • Equalize - All enemies get the same amount of pips as the target. Example: This works similarly to Mana Burn. Targeting the opponent with the least pips is obviously the best option, but all enemies who cast a spell that round still get to use it, even if you burn their pips. Unlike Reshuffle, this spell is limited to one copy per deck!
  • Hypnosis - Example: Target cannot deal damage for 3 turns. They can still attack, but all damage dealt while this spell is active will deal zero damage. If they use a damage over time spell, the last tick of their attack will still deal zero damage, as it was cast while this spell was in effect.
  • Meditation - Example: All friends gain a 15% damage boost for 2 rounds. This is an aura, so it can be destroyed by Supernova.

What do you think of these new schools? I would love to get your feedback, especially on spells: are the pip costs okay? What should I change? Leave a comment below and let me know.

Please, keep in mind that these are just spell ideas! I do realize some of them may look overpowered, which is why I need your help to adjust them to game realism.
